Description

Designed for Doubles

The tech in the patented* Elite Surge handles improves your spin control and efficiency, helping you realize instant gains in your double under speed and consistency.

  • Dual-ball bearing 4oz aluminum handles achieve 6-7 jumps a second
  • Designed by a national champion speed jumper to improve your double under scores
  • Thin handles with foam grips allow for fine control while turning the rope (and sweating).
  • 2 year warranty on machine-cut aluminum handles

Usage: We recommend using this jump rope indoors, as the cable will wear out on rough surfaces. If jumping outdoors, use a jump rope mat or purchase with a 3mm outdoor rated cable, which will last longer on abrasive surfaces.

Pro Tip: Go with the Double Under Training Kit for savings on replacement cables or to experiment with different cable types.

*Patent No. US 9,427,613

The advantage of the Elite Surge is the dual ball bearings, which distribute the axial load applied at the handles much more efficiently. With just one bearing, there is the addition of detrimental axial torque on the bearing, which causes it to wear out faster and adds friction so the rope spins less freely.

The two bearings surround the cable (one on top and the other below). This gives the rope an incredibly balanced feel as you spin the cable. Overall, the design makes the handle feel very rigid and 'solid' in your hand as opposed to the feeling of stress and torque you may feel in another design.

The Surge comes standard with a kink-resistant, nylon-coated USA-made cable, which is more durable and dependable than cable made overseas (coated with poor quality material that wears out quickly).

Cable Options

3/32" Standard Cable (black + color options) - A 3/32" nylon coated, kink-resistant cable made in the USA. Comes in black and a variety of other colors. Not recommended for use on abrasive surfaces.

1/16" Bare Cable - 1/16" non-coated cable is used in speed and double under competitions. Very light and cuts through the air with ease. It has no coating, however, and will wear out more quickly than other cable types.

1/8" White Freestyle Cable - This is a beginners/intermediate cable for those who like the feel of a heavier rope. 1/8" cable with white nylon coating.

3mm Outdoor Heavy Cable - 3mm nylon coated cable for use outdoors on abrasive surfaces. Our toughest cable. Heavily coated in nylon to take a beating on concrete surfaces. It will eventually wear out, but will last longer than any other speed cable on the market. Comes in black only.

1.2mm Teflon Ultra Thin Cable - The thinnest, lightest cable available for a speed rope. Recommended for competitive speed jumpers only - inexperienced jumpers will struggle with this cable. Recommended for indoor use only.

4mm PVC CordThe Surge 2.0 can now accept a 4mm PVC cord, which is better than cable for crossing moves and tricks. The PVC is also heavier and slower than cable, which gives it a different feel and is popular among beginners just learning double unders.

Pro Tip: Purchase spare cables to easily swap out ropes for different uses or quickly replace worn cables.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I size my jump rope?
A: You can find our in-depth sizing guide here.

Q: How does the adjustable collar/screw work?
A: In most cases, you can loosen and tighten the adjustable screw by hand. In some instances you will need a pair of pliers, and you may want a pair of pliers to make extra certain your collar/screw is secure. It is important that you check this fastener before your workout. If it falls off during use it can be difficult to find.

Q: How long should my cable last? Where can I find replacement cables?
A: The longevity of your cable will depend on the frequency of use, and the surface you’re jumping on. Especially for bare wire and teflon, fine dirt and moisture can get between strands and cause corrosion. That said, you should get a few months at the very least, and probably more. If you need to replace your cable, they can be found in the accessories section.

Hi Kenny- No good! Can you tell us how it broke? Was it just one of the sizing screws that came off? Or something else? We stand behind our products, and would love to replace the rope or offer a refund.

Improved my doubles

I purchased the Elite Surge 2.0 for Crossfit uses to get better at my double unders. I'm coming from my first Rogue spealler speed rope purchased in 2012. I have improved my double unders from not being able to string more than 10 to going to almost 40 unbroken since March.
